It has been a while since I posted my lasted knowledge booster. Reason is; it has been about 4 months or so since I have been able to finish a book, a blog, an article - whatever. Television is truly the crusher of the mind and since moving to Jakarta, I have fallen into couch potato mode - Masterchef, StarMovies and TLC channels have been bad influences and new friends. However, it is a new month, with new goals and I am aiming to get back on track.
Currently, I am trying to sit down and immerse myself in two books, simultaneously, as well as learn two-languages - Indonesian and French at the same time. Impossible? Not sure yet, but dang hard yes. So here is what I am working with, care to join me?

I finished the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success in one day and quickly turned to the Memory Bible. I am not sure if you are like me, but at times I feel as though I was a little sharper in my earlier days and just want to make sure I stay healthy, fit and fab well into my 90's. Believe it or not, as soon as I brought this book home, I saw a preview for one of the American Daytime shows (Doctors) addressing the issue of memory loss for younger people and read an article on the same topic. So what is really going on?
Thoughts are that younger people (between 30-50) are starting to experience what has been diagnosed as early on-set Alzheimer's disease. Scary! This is definitely not normal as Alzheimer's disease usually takes affect with people over 80 or 70's even. So is it in our food, stress levels or pollution in our environment. Either way, I am determined to exercise my brain just as I would my body and this book promises to do just that.
I just started so if you are interested in completing this book with me - I would be elated! So leave a comment below or email me.
I love the spiritual knowledge of Deepak Choopra. But more importantly, I enjoy reading these books and love that I am grounded enough in my own faith to incorporate my Christian based knowledge into them as I read. If you have read the Bible, the Koran or whatever your faith, you will see the similarities in all these Universal teachings; which I find exciting and empowering.
Nonetheless, I am happy to have an open mind and heart to readings and teachings that help us to understand the spirit within us and how to obtain peace, solace, love and balance from within.
I read this book in one day, as it is short, quick and inspirational: A page turner that truly has me motivated to succeed and achieve!

Fashion and Advertising was given to me by photographer, Sean P. Watters to further my research on fashion photography after our mentoring week. At first glance you think, 'this would make a great coffee table book'. But dive deeper for a quick descriptive read on the lighting, the theme, the set up, the look and the transformation of a fashion editorial from famed fashion photographers such as Elaine Constantine, Solve Sundsbo and Alexi Lubomirski.
This workshop style book aims to answer the most popular question of photographers interested in the fashion world. However, if you are a fashion professional in editing, writing, blogging, marketing or advertising, it is a nice piece of reference material to have in your library. I find it a great idea to know all facets of the world in which we work.

What is giving me brain power and motivation at the moment (March 2011) - Russell Simmon's (the God father of hip hop) first book - Do You. If you are not a hip hop fan the first chapter might through you off a bit, but keep it moving as his enlightenment on life through his spiritual beliefs, experiences, failures and yoga practice will inspire you.
Now off to finish my inspiration for the moment.

Knowledge is power! And as you can see, I love reading a variety of text. Last week, I got caught in Borders for 2 hours taking advantage (disappointingly) of their closing down sale.
