118 Malls in Indonesia...I gasp!

It has been a while since my last post -- so sorry! But a birthday bash weekend which left me to a week of recuperation, my growing courses at the London College of Fashion and moving plans to Indonesia, one is lucky that I have time to do much of anything anymore. Not to mention, I am trying to refuse the need to become slave to my blog instead making it slave to me...hmm, that made more sense in my head.

Oh well, as I make plans and preparations for my most exciting September move to Indonesia, a fashionable girl must know what the shopping is like right? So upon speaking to a soon-to-be colleague she informed me that Indonesia had 170 malls! I was floored so I did a bit of investigating. Although my roving eyes did not come across 170, I did physically locate a list of 118 malls, with shops ranging from Bvlgari to Mango. Say it ain't so!

The upscale area of South Jakarta seems to be the happening shopping area and dare I say the location of the emerging middle class in Indonesia, with 17 malls currently standing and 4 new malls projected by the 2012. Obviously, this could be a major disaster in my planned savings strategy or an advantage to my closet. Either way, I am told this is the hang out spot for most Indonesians -- looks like these are people after my own heart. So I welcome the temptation to shop till I drop.

So what does this mean for you. A full-size shopping report for as many malls as I can conquer within my 2-years stay. Can't wait to discover the latest finds, hottest wears and emerging talent of which I hope to share across my networks so stay tuned.
