| Behind the scenes shot taken with the handy iPhone - Model Eric Sage prepped for photo |
My mentor week began with industry 'in the know', a casting, an editorial shoot and lastly my own personal photo shoot. So last Saturday I was invited on set of a major shoot, eeek how exciting, which saw the creation of a highly anticipated editorial to come soon. But OMG, should I digress for a moment to mention the eye candy that walked through the doors of the casting two days prior, maybe in another posting (for girls only).
Running around like an eager intern as eyes for the photographer, stylist assistant and mother hen to the models ('My boys' I call them), I felt the pressure, excitement, frustrations and hype of such a fantastic shoot as this. It was a blast! I felt the buzz on set and was more than happy to do my share until I got stuck dismantling (quite poorly I might add) a Lady Gaga body armour piece by Rodrigo Otazu (surely someone left the directions in the car).
An urban warrior theme, set in a wood workshop atop of 3rd ward studios in Brooklyn was chosen and Fredrick, Eric, Adrian and Joao WORKED it, with the amazing direction of Sean; the haute looks of celebrity stylist, Carlton Jones and hair and make-up team. It was a late night and now I understand that modelling, styling and photography is not a profession for whimps. It is hustle, bustle, hunger, drive and imagination in some of the most oddest places.
Nonetheless, after all that hustle and bustle, the photos came out marvelous (unfortunately they are not able to be released until after the magazine editorial hits the printers, but I will keep you guys informed.). The experience was memorable and got my creative wheel churning, Whoop!
