90046...Melrose Place

So what's a girl to do whilst visiting Los Angles on a lovely Friday. Here is a suggestion or two:
Pacific Design Center
  1. Wake up sort of early (I mean you are on vacay).
  2. Check the daily forecast and a little LA news before heading out (you wouldn't want to be caught in bad weather, traffic or an earthquake).
  3. Grab a book or magazine; a bottle of water; and put on some really comfortable clothes and walking shoes (but do look somewhat fashionable and not homely).
  4. Get directions to Melrose and take the nearest transit or drive and park in the area. From here the world is your oyster.
  5. First stop, MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Arts) to see the Rodarte exhibit - up till June 5, 2011.
  6. If you have time, check out the Pacific Design Center (next door).
  7. Dine alfresco at one of the local cafes - my faves were Le Pain Quotidien or M Cafe De Chaya - a very popular vegan cafe 1 stop down.
  8. Relax, dine, read and then off you go for a long stroll down Melrose Ave. The road seems endless, so walk at your own pace, safety and comfort. I walked from MOCA to Melrose & Western - with a 4 hour stop for eating, MOCA, dessert and Starbucks it took another 3 hours of strolling, shopping and sight seeing.
Enjoy the journey!

Love finding a piece of the UK in the US

Umm, this building obviously makes a statement - Paul Smith

I simply love Burton's store front - looks like a restored garage or opening an old tuna can.
