Globe trekking while on vacay from my lovely students and after weeks of deliberating, searching, reading countless travel guides at
Kinokuniya bookstore and by way of recommendation from a co-worker, I decided to do a little trekking in the unsuspecting parts of Indonesia - at least for holiday travelers - the heart of Javanese -
Yogyakarta,
Borobudur,
Prambanan and possibly Solo.
As for now, I am in zen and refusing to leave this diamond-in-the-rough hotel, Jambuluwuk Hotel and Resort. Booking a hotel site unseen is always a risk, but booking a new hotel sight unseen is just plain crazy. And well, sometimes I like to be a little crazy. But thank God Jambuluwuk H & R has not disappointed. From the personalized airport pick-up (talk about a celebrity for the day); fantastic curb appeal; impeccable service; welcoming drink; balinese-inspired decor and pool; and two delicious meals - I am so trapped on this Island and never leaving, at least for today.
So what was today's itinerary:
1. Arrive to Joyga (Yogyakarta) -
check
 |
| via Air Asia |
 |
Meet my driver
|
2. Get settled in Joyga's Bali-style rest haven - Jambuluwuk Hotel and Resort -
check
 |
| Main Lobby |
 |
| Check-in desk - Brilliant service! |
 |
| These copper hand-made decorations were stunning |
 |
| My cozy room - natural decor fits the earthy feel on the outside |
 |
| This TV had my name written all over it for night one |
3. Eat lunch (with desert by the pool) -
check
 |
Ummm, Delicious! I know what you are thinking, 'not the
typical Indonesian cuisine', but I had to test the waters
before diving right in. |
 |
| Poolside bar |
4. Take a quick dip in the pool and meditate -
check
 |
| The steps to heaven |
 |
| It was as nice as it looks. |
 |
| This is me in Diva zen |
5. End the day reading, writing this blog and watching movies in the cozy room -
check
So, I am off to a full day in Borobudur in the morning (car/driver arranged for me by the hotel...sweet!) so watch this space.
Until tomorrow.
Au revoir!
