Positive Vibes...Good Vibrations...Chicago

Chicago and I seem to have a love/hate relationship - of which I feel is a returned feeling from the energy of the City sometimes as well. So we (Chicago and I) are forging a new bond, more positive and optimistic. I plan to see this city with fresh eyes, no judgement and with great inspiration. I learned that whatever you put into something, the law of the Universe says it will return the same to you. Therefore, this will be my Chicago gratitude journal.

Shouting out positive vibes and good vibrations to this city each week with - The 3 Things I love about Chicago. Here goes.

  1. Lakeshore
With a quick dash or lazy stroll through Harold Washington Park, this serene sight is only a 5 minute walk from my front door. On a sunny day the view is mesmerizing, on a cloudy day it is full of peace; and on a windy day the waves hitting against the rocks makes me feel like I am in my own space.

2. Cool places to Eat and Drink

Chicago is very well-known for its food. Granted deep-fried pizzas, cheese popcorn and bbq fried chicken top the menu for some. As a healthy, more conscious eater you will be delighted to know you can find vegan and vegetarian delights; and mouth watering Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. My experiences last week took me to:

B'Gabs vegan resturant - my first vegan burger and it was a pretty good treat.

Chant restaurant for a nice martini and cool atmosphere. An Asian Infusion joint, the food looks yummy
as well.

This week, Thai 55 fulfilled my longing desire for Phad Thai and Yellow curry. Two days of delivery and I need to make a run for the Lakeshore.

All of these restaurants can be found in my new hood of Hyde Park.

3. State Street Shopping

From H&M to Nordstroms Rack Room; Macy's to Target, you really just can't beat the shopping. One trip on this long strip and you can pick up your favorite wine - at the new Urban Walgreens; shop for shoes and household products in hours. I simply love shopping on this strip.

To be continued next week...
