For today's Fashion Professional

Okay, guys sorry for the delay in post. I have too much to do, to much to say, lots of projects and not enough time.

Nevertheless I digress. Last week I spoke to some eager fashion students at London Metropolitan University and it went from an employability session to a mini social media course. I was amazed at how many people in the fashion world still have little to no knowledge of social media and its benefits.

So let's be clear, if you are an emerging designer, retailer, fashion marketer, student or any other fashion professional - social media is here and here to stay. So know it, learn it, do it or hire someone to.

Let's face it, social media is not brain science (as a professional in the industry myself - I hope this does not offend) but as a category of marketing, it does require knowledge, organisation and strategy. And one of the pioneers of fashion education, London College of Fashion, recognizes the benefits and effects of social media for one of the economy's largest contributors - fashion - and has launched two new courses for the current and future fashion and creative professional, MA Fashion Media and Production and Online Fashion Marketing and Social Media short course (to start January 2011).

Both courses are teaching students to embrace technology as the new fashion and a component to any successful business in an educational context.

Social media is taking over the world - so to speak - so don't be left out in the dark. Find your own way and resources to gain knowledge and experience on this exciting and busy marketing and communication tools.

Until next time - Ciao!
