Shazza's 5 Faves

Umm, has it really been 2 weeks and a few days since my last post? So sorry, as it has been manic. New job, new home, new year, new ideas, new things to do and new people to see. But I am back and reviving the blog (so one would hope).

If it is any consolation, I have never forgotten about you guys. To show my gratitude for your patience and to catch you guys up on my London excursions these past few weeks, I thought it would only be most appropriate to list out the 5 fave things I did, saw and liked; from cultural experiences to a fashionable read. Take a peek!

  • The Burlington House (the house by which the Royal Academy of Arts sits) has amazing art, history and fantastic tour guides (of course the tour is free on Thursdays). I stopped by the house tour on my way to see the Fashion Identity exhibit before its last day and was pleasantly surprised and you will be too. From the gold trimmed ceilings to the authentic art work and architecture.

  • Late Tate is a great way to enjoy art in a relaxing and social atmosphere. There were 4 DJ's, bars on each floor and people everywhere. It was a great night to hang out with my new Meetup group and see Tate Britain in a more exciting way. First Friday of each month and open till 10 pm (22:00).

  • Tea & movie @ Soho Hotel--Absolutely sublime! The food was superb and the atmosphere was sensational. Felt very much like spring inside with whimsical decor and an array of tulips for each table. We arrived for afternoon tea and movie. Once our meal concluded, we were escorted to the basement theatre room for a private showing of Social Network. Nice! The cost is a bit pricey, starting at £35 (does not include drinks). But the experience is one I would recommend.

  • Spa treats at Nu-U Therapies. On Tuesdays you can find me here, relaxing to melodic sounds of waves, water and nature; sniffing Lemon Grass and meditating in an all so relaxing servicescape. Nu-U is a new spa in North London (on Holloway Road) and a nice treat. From waxings to hot stone massages, the ladies are professional and quintessential in what they do. Join their Facebook page for special discounts and updates or give them a shout. ($5 off first visit - mention this blog)

  • Coco Chanel: The Legend and Life book which I have yet to read. So far it has become a collectors item in my fashion reads library. But I cannot wait to dive into the life of this icon, fashion legend and change catalyst. She was a very interesting person and I consider her story to be inspiring yet sad.
