Hyde Park Architecture: Professor's Row
Hello Shazza-ists,
Sorry for the delay on the food and Hyde Park Architectural updates. Sadly, my iPad (hence awesome camera and writing tool) was stolen and the devastation, let alone inconvenience, has been somewhat of a bother. But I resolved it by deciding to look at this as a donation to a thief. (Aww, glad I got that off my chest)
Nonetheless, I went on a little journey to Obama's house and came across this street. I was intriquged by the beautiful uniformity, modern yet renaissance inspired row of houses and started snapping shots. And wouldn't you know, as I continued to walk the row taking a few photos - swooning over the homes - I came across this plague 'Professor's Row'.
Built from 1903 - 1916, Professor's Row houses are just steps from the University of Chicago and has a wealth of elegant architectural features. These houses range in price, but average in the $1 million arena...Ouch! One day soon I will be able to slap down a 10-20% down-payment on a home of this magnitude...but until then I will continue to ogle them.
Obviously, this was my favorite house. What Leo can resist a Lion at the front gate...
Enjoy!
